GAME GLOBAL FOCUS ON:
TRAINING AND RECRUITMENT
Training and recruiting the new professionals of the video game industry
OUR EVENT
Round table on how companies, universities, and other educational institutions can collaborate to train students and create localization job opportunities within gaming companies.
In this two-hour event, we will gather representatives from universities, independent learning institutions, video game companies and service providers to share current training and recruitment trends, and discuss how we can move forward to collaborate more in order to shape the new video game localization professionals of the future. We will look at real-life examples of recruitment, training processes and collaborations between industry and academia, involving all roles (such as translators, testers, project managers and localization engineers).
The event will be split into two parts:
- Round table discussion moderated by Miguel Bernal-Merino, Lecturer at Roehampton University London (75 minutes).
- Networking in small groups via the Remo platform (45 minutes).
The hottest topics we will address:
- There are new roles in the game localization industry such as FQA tester, translator, LQA tester, team lead, language coordinator, localization manager, localization engineer and MT post-editor. With this in mind, what training is required? How does a company recruit the best talent?
- Can companies and learning institutions collaborate more? Why haven’t we done this before?
- What are the best practices we can share with the industry?
- Any tips for new graduates to get started?
