Q: What is the event about?
A: Game Global was designed as an event for stakeholders from the video game globalization industry (including text and audio translation and localization, localization and functional QA) to meet and share their endeavors, successes, best practices and research in a collaborative and transparent manner. We focus on three main areas: localization, localization testing and functional testing. You can check our website for further details.
Q: How do you register?
A: You can register online through our registration portal.
Q: Who can attend?
A: Everyone who has an interest in any aspect of video game localization and QA. We welcome representatives of video game developers, publishers, service providers and students and academics with credentials.
Q: Are there any discounts for students?
A: Yes, students and academics are granted a discounted registration fee of $175. You can visit this page for more detailed info.
Q: Are there group discounts?
A: Yes! We offer discounts for groups of five or more. See here for more details.
Q: An online event? How does it work?
A: The event will be hosted on the Whova app, which is available both on mobile and desktop/laptop browser. Two weeks before the event, all registered participants will receive a link to create their profile and start exploring the app. Through the app participants will be able to access the agenda, attendee and speaker profiles and many networking opportunities. Presentations are also streamed live through the platform thanks to the integration with Zoom.
Q: I’m worried I won’t be able to figure out Whova in order to attend the event. Can you give a rundown of how Whova works before the event?
A: Yes, you will find more information on our website and on our social media channels soon.
Q: Is there a registration code that will be emailed separately to get into Whova?
A: Yes, all those who have registered on the Game Global Digital Summit website will receive a registration code to access Whova two weeks prior to the event.
Q: Do I need to download or register to Zoom?
A: No, you will be able to watch the presentations directly through the Whova app and without creating an account.
Q: I can’t attend on those days but I am very interested, will I be able to access the presentations later?
A: Yes, all presentations will be recorded and will be available on the Whova platform for six months for all attendees who have registered.
Q: Can the presentations be attended or purchased separately?
A: It will be possible to purchase the access to the recorded presentations after the event. More information coming soon.
Q: What will be the same about the virtual event and the previous Game Global events? What will be different?
A: The quality of our presentations, the experience of our speakers, the openness of the discussion and the networking opportunities will be the same. The main difference is that due to the current situation in the world, we are moving the conference to our home screens
Q: What about networking?
A: Attendees from past events particularly appreciated the networking opportunities offered and we want our first Game Global Digital Summit to be as interactive as possible. The Whova platform will offer multiple networking options: access to attendee and speaker profiles, a social wall, connection to social media, games, polls, breakout rooms, a virtual lunch on June 9 and virtual drinks at the end of the event on June 10.
Q: Tell me more about the happy hour promotion!
A: At 7:45 pm on June 10, at the end of our event, our Zoom stream will turn into a Zoom party! Grab your favorite drink and join us for a relaxed chat with friends or to continue part of the discussions that were started during the event.
Q: I would like to share the presentations with others who can’t attend, is this possible?
A: No, this won’t be possible. Only registered attendees will have access to the presentations through Whova and no link will be made available to share.
Q: Can I record this session?
A: No, none of the presentations, round tables, panels, networking events or meetings can be recorded. We will record the presentations, round tables and panels in the program on our side and they will be made available to registered attendees through the Whova app.
Q: Can I join the event after it’s started?
A: Yes, you can join any time during the first or second day. If you miss any of the presentations, you can always catch them later when the recordings are made available on the platform.
Q: Can I join on the first day but not the second or vice versa?
A: Yes, all registered participants can choose to attend only one day and watch the recordings of the presentations they have missed. However, we only offer one registration fee that includes both days, there is no discount for only attending one day.
Q: Can I use my phone to attend? Or just a computer? What about an iPad?
A: Apart from your computer, you can attend using any Android or iOS mobile device, including iPad.
Q: Are there any minimum system requirements to run the Whova mobile and web app?
A: The Whova mobile app will run on any Android or iOS mobile device. For the web app you will need to use a desktop/laptop browser. Note that Chrome works best.
Q: Is the event English only?
A: Yes, the event is English only.
Q: Is the one-on-one networking in the Whova app English only?
A: The Whova app is also available on mobile in French and Simplified Chinese.
Q: Will the next Game Global Summit be virtual?
A: We sincerely hope that we will be able to host the next Game Global Summit as a physical event, but it will largely depend on the world situation in the next few months. However, we also want to keep working in order to offer online content throughout the year and include those who are not usually able to travel to join our physical events. Stay tuned for more info!
